Hello, I am Lucia
I work as a project manager. I am a parent. An expat residing in Madrid, Spain.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar processes, new routines, new expectations. Daily chores seemed more tangled than expected.
The Adjustment Period
Culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning were part of it. Gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt stable.
Why I Created MildHarborNote
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a candid, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Forward View
Our stay in Spain continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Madrid or somewhere in Spain, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Lucia
